FOR EDUCATORS

Co-Developed Programs

Young people on the autism spectrum and educators who work with them have been part of our development team from the very beginning of the IDEAS project. Their input over many years shaped the design of curricular materials, implementation processes and professional development provided here.

This section provides access to the IDEAS curricula and accompanying facilitator presentations for two IDEAS Maker Programs. The original IDEAS is focused on 3D Design and includes the use of a 3D printer, though it can be run without that. The World Building IDEAS program is focused on creating worlds with craft materials.

LEARN ABOUT CURRICULUM

IDEAS Maker Programs have been implemented by educators in a variety of ways in public autism inclusion schools in New York City. This section provides guidance about how to implement the program from educators with experience running it.

LEARN ABOUT IMPLEMENTATION

The curricula available on this website includes detailed information about how to run the programs written by those who provided the professional development to our pilot teachers. This section contains information about additional ways to access IDEAS Maker Program professional development.

LEARN ABOUT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Maker programs require space, materials, and time. For educators to run them successfully, they need the support of administrators. This section provides information that will be useful for administrators to know what is needed to offer the IDEAS Maker Program.
